NEWARK WATERSHED CHLORINE LEAK

November 2, 2000 At 09:25 Hrs.

 

On November 2, 2000 at 09:25 the West Milford Police were notified of a
chlorine leak at the City of Newark Conservation building on Route 23. 

 

 

The West Milford Police Dispatched the West Milford Fire Department, First Aid
Squad, and the Office of Emergency Management. 

Also dispatched was thePassaic County Sheriff's Department Hazmat unit.

 

 

The Fire Department Incident Commander was Company 4 Deputy Chief Kevin Drake.

 

 

The Passaic County Sheriff's Department made entry into the building to locate and stop the leak.

 

 

The incident kept Route 23 closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours. 

There were no injuries and the leak was successfully contained.
