On Saturday May 3, 2003 at about 18:34 hrs. West Milford Fire Dept. Co. 6, 3, 4 and the West Milford First Aid Squad were dispatched to reported smoke coming from a roof top air conditioning unit above Eckerd Drugs in the West Milford Shopping Center.

The smoke was reportedly seen from a small fixed wing aircraft flying in the area and reported to the West Milford Police Department.
