2-26-11 Structure Fire 42 Navajo Trail

 

West Milford Fire Companies 1, 4 and 2 responded to a working structure fire at 42 Navajo Trail on Saturday February 26, 2011 at 9:09 pm.

At the time of the alarm Company 4 was holding their Annual Installation Dinner and had Tanker 262 from Ringwood standing by at Station 4. Tanker 4 responded with a driver and a crew from Ringwood along with Stonetown's Tanker 262 and their crew.

Chief 1 was the first arriving fire unit and radioed that he had a fully involved house on fire. He requested additional mutual aid tankers from Kinnelon and Jefferson be dispatched. Tanker 4 and Tanker 262 were the first arriving fire apparatus, each truck pulled attack lines and quickly went to work knocking down the blaze.

On arrival heavy fire was showing on the A and B sides of the structure. Also on the B side was a external 280 gallon fuel oil tank which was heavily surrounded by fire. Operations officer Assistant Chief 1 reported partial structural collapse on the first floor in the rear of the building in the area of B and C corner of the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and their were no injuries during the incident.

Mutual aid companies assisting at the scene were from Ringwood, Bloomingdale, Kinnelon and Jefferson Township. Filling in at Fire Stations were Hardyston Township and Ringwood's Skyline Lakes and Erskine Lakes Fire Companies.

The fire is under investigation by the West Milford and Jefferson Township Fire Marshals.
